CLEA will be hosting their next conference in April 2019 in Zambia. CLEA have traditionally held their conference in the same city or the same region as the Commonwealth Law Conference as both associations jointly run the Commonwealth Moot competition.
The conference theme will be ‘Global Challenges for Commonwealth Legal Education’ which will comprise five broad areas:
- Constitutions and Governance
- Combatting Corruption
- Journalism and Free Speech
- Law Reform

The sixteenth Commonwealth Moot will be held in conjunction with the 21st Commonwealth Law Conference also being held in Zambia. The moot final will take place on Thursday 11 April 2019.
The Commonwealth Moot is an initiative of the Commonwealth Legal Education Association (CLEA) and the Commonwealth Lawyers Association (CLA). It is an ‘invitation-only’ Moot, being limited to representative teams from regions of the Commonwealth only. The regions, for the this purpose, are; North America, United Kingdom, the Caribbean, South Asia (India), South Asia (Bangladesh, Pakistan, and Sri Lanka), South East Asia, Western Africa , Eastern Africa, Southern Africa, Australasia (Australia and New Zealand send separate teams), and the South Pacific.
